Where do we use single hand gestures in Mohiniyattam?

We were discussed some of the Asamyutha Mudras(Single hand gestures) in the last part of this series. A few more single-hand gestures and their notations are explained below.

Disrespect / Complaint

Start the movement in Hamsapaksham mudra in front of the forehead (refer image 1 for position). Begin to form mudrakhya mudra as the hand begins to rotate from the wrist forming a circle. Once the circle is completed, move the hand a little further away from the forehead towards the right side of the body in a clean swift motion to complete the viniyoga.

Future

Commence viniyoga by placing the right hand in mudrakhya as shown in image 1. Move the hand from this position to the next position as show in image 2.

Saying ‘No’

Commence viniyoga by placing the right hand in mudrakhya as shown in image 1. Make a small circle with the hand and then open the palm in a swift motion into Hamsapaksham.

(In the beginning of the mudra, a circular of the palm in Hamsapaksha would be more effective).
