This is one of the meditative postures which can be learnt easily. It opens up the hips and knee joints and the very posture makes the mind tranquil 

Method

Sit on the sole of extended feet joined at the toes as shown in the figure with knees flexed. Rest the palms on the thighs of the respective sides. Keep the back straight. Then move the feet gently to the slide towards the sides to make way for the hips to rest on the floor. Keep gazing at the top of the nose or at the area between the eye brows. Take five breaths.
