Carnatic music concert illuminated only by nilavilakkus, will be held at Avanamkode Saraswathi Devi Temple in Kochi today.
Today, on November 17, 2024, the Neelakanda Sivan Cultural Academy from Chennai will bring a unique Carnatic music experience to Kochi. Departing from the usual brightly lit stages, this concert will take place in the serene Avanamkode Saraswathi Devi Temple, near Cochin International Airport, creating an intimate and reflective ambience.
The evening will feature two vocal performances by prominent artists. At 5 PM, Smt. Sharmila Sivakumar will perform, accompanied by K.R. Aryadatta on violin and R. Kalainath on mridangam. Following this, Cheppad A.E. Vamanan Namboodiri will take the stage at 6:15 PM, with violinist Vayala Rajendran and mridangam maestro Mannargudi Easwaran.
In keeping with the temple setting, the stage will be illuminated solely by traditional Kerala oil lamps, or nilavilakkus, lending the event a peaceful, meditative atmosphere. This concert is the fourth in a series organised by the Kerala chapter of the Neelakanda Sivan Cultural Academy.
